Independence Week Calendar of Events July 3-8

Fourth of July does not land on the weekend this year, and instead of dedicating one day for Independence Day celebration occasions, here is a calendar of events for five whole days of fun local events. The list below includes fireworks shows, baseball games, concerts, and other free events for students to enjoy.

Wednesday July 3

What: 100.3 the Peak Free Summer Fun Roadshow at Zoo

Where: ABQ Biopark Zoo 903 Tenth Street SW

When: 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Free admission for listeners who download passes from The Peak’s website to ABQ Biopark between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.


What: Rock Music Concert with Ragdoll, Darken the Day, Parachute Picnic, and Panphobia

Where: Hooligans 9800 Montgomery Blvd. NE

When: 8 p.m.

21+ event ticket price $10


What: Celebrate the Golden Age of 90s Pop Rock ‘n’ Roll with Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray and Gin Blossoms

Where: ABQ Biopark Zoo 2601 Central Ave NW

When: 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Ticket prices are $45 in advance ($50 day of concert.)

Proceeds benefit the New Mexico BioPark Society, a non-profit organization supporting the ABQ BioPark Zoo, Aquarium, Botanic Garden and Tingley Beach


Thursday July 4

What: Freedom 4th annual Fourth of July Celebration

Where: Balloon Fiesta Park 5500 Balloon Fiesta Pkwy

When: 4 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Firework show begins at 9:15 p.m.

Free admission, parking $10

Freedom 4th annual Fourth of July Celebration Schedule

4 to 5 p.m. Summer XO

5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Burnin’ Bridges Band

6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Bartender 4 Mayor

7:50 to 8 p.m. National Anthem

8 to 9:15 p.m. John Michael Montgomery

9:15 p.m. Fireworks

The main stage will have local musicians throughout the day featuring national country star John Michael Montgomery, followed by one of the state’s largest fireworks displays


What: Albuquerque Isotopes vs. Iowa Cubs, Independence Day Celebration

Where: Isotopes Park 1601 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE

When: 6:05 p.m.

Ticket prices vary from $17.25 to $19.50

July 5 at 7:05 p.m.

July 6 at 7:05 p.m.

July 7 at 6:05 p.m.


What: The Memphis Ptails “Rockabilly Blues”

Where: Zinc Wine Bar and Bistro 3009 Central Ave NE

When: 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.


What: Straight Line Stitch

Where: Hooligans 9800 Montgomery Blvd. NE

When: 8 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.

21+ event, ticket prices $10


Friday July 5

What: Can’t Stop the Serenity 8, Charity Film Screening & Shindig of Serenity

Where: Kino Theatre

When: 5 p.m. – Doors Open: Raffles, Merchandise, Food, and Music

6 p.m. – Pre-Show: Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

7:30pm – Serenity Movie

9:30pm – Shindig! Prizes, Food, Drink, Music, and Fun

Ticket Prices are $10

Proceeds go to UNM Children’s Hospital-Children’s Miracle Network and Equality Now


What: Dirty Bourbon River Show “New Orleans Gypsy Brass Circus Rock”

Where: Low Spirits 2823 2nd Street NW

When: 9 p.m.

Saturday July 6

What: Step it up Albuquerque with Mayor Berry

When: 9 to 10 a.m.

Where: Roosevelt Park at Coal Avenue between Spruce Street and Sycamore Street

Free also get a free pedometer for walking while supplies last


What: Merican Slang “Funk / Southern Rock / Hip Hop”

Where: Hooligans 9800 Montgomery Blvd. NE

When: 8 p.m.

Sunday July 7

What: Free Sunday Mornings at Albuquerque Museum of Art and History
