The signs are up for the new Starbuck’s at CNM’s Marketplace, but the store has not announced an opening date, as the campus prepares for the onset of the Fall Semester. While the Marketplace Bookstore is open to patrons wearing masks, construction was continuing on the interior of the Starbucks, as of Friday, August 27. Signage on the Starbucks University Boulevard entrance indicates that Starbucks will be “coming soon.” Outdoor tables are already placed on a patio, marked by the familiar Starbucks emblem on a wall clearly visible from University Boulevard.

A rendering of the already under construction CNM Catering and Brewing Facility has been posted on the fencing around the construction site, which is where the old CNM Book Store was located.
The new book store is at the Market Place, which is located next door, to the north. on University Boulevard.
The catering and brewery building will be on the site of the Robert P. Matteucci Building (RPM), which houses many of the culinary classes and the CNM Foundation.

The Catering & Brewing Facility was designed by FBT Architects of Albuquerque, which won awards for its design of the remodel of Smith Brasher Hall– located at the southwest corner of Coal Avenue and University Boulevard.  The general contractor for the project is Brycon Construction of Albuquerque.
The Market Place, was completed late last year, has yet to open to the general public, because of Covid restrictions.  However, students were queuing outside to pick up on-line orders for books.

Human-like figures have been spotted in CNM’s newest building, The Market Place–even though, it is not yet open to the public.
Brycon Constuction said the figures are actually plastic mannequins, that will don appropriate CNM apparrell when the market place and it’s new book store do open.
Racks for books have already been installed, and shoppers will be able to take a break at a Starbucks that is also expected to be housed in the building, Brycon workers said.
Although the building seems almost ready for use, CNM has not yet announced an opening date, although the builders have said the building would be done this fall.
